Many of you may are aware of our popular ongoing workshops that Shema Kolainu hosts throughout the year. Yesterday we organized the second one of the school year at Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan. Our guest speaker was Alexa Moses- OTR, Occupational Therapist who presented an informative and engaging seminar on “Regulating children with Autism and/or sensory disorders: cutting edge intervention using sensory strategies.
At Shema Kolainu we pride ourselves on the ability to continue to give and support members of our community as they deepen their knowledge and understanding of children with Autism. Without unlimited education and resources for our caregivers, parents and teachers we run the risk of silencing the voices that are the most important. The children who are growing and developing within the spectrum. Officials and well respected political figures have also be part of the success and popularity of the workshops as they continue to offer support and help contribute time to our events. Thanks to members of the City Council we were recently awarded The Autism Initiative Grant.
Attendees were impressed with the overall content, information and resources available to the community. If you missed yesterday’s event you are encouraged to sign up for our next one on January 31st which will feature Dr. Shore as he speaks about
“ ADL: Developing independent living skills for individuals with Autism.” To sign up for the workshop please visit:
