Parents of Children With Autism More Likely to Get Sick

Parents of children with AutismStudies have found that mothers of children with autism and likely to earn less and that parents of children with ASD have higher rates of stress. However, there has not been a lot of research into the physical well-being of parents of children with autism.

The research led by NorthumbriaUniversity, published in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology this month, found that parents of children with autism are more likely to get common ailments such as colds, coughs and headaches as a direct result of the increased stresses linked to their caring duties.
